South Carolina man arrested after a fatal bar shooting

On Behalf of Blackwelder Law, LLC | Dec 1, 2020 | Criminal Defense

An individual in South Carolina has been arrested after allegedly killing one person and injuring three others in a bar shooting. The individual reportedly fled the scene and escaped to North Carolina where he was caught by police. The man had traveled 85 miles to the city of Lexington. He was placed in a jail cell in North Carolina, although legal proceedings cannot begin until the authorities bring him back to South Carolina.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been identified. The individual allegedly shot four men, including a 25-year-old who is suffering from severe injuries. After the alleged shooter left the scene, the authorities released several arrest warrants that charged him with murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm. The man is scheduled to return to South Carolina shortly where he will be served with the warrants.

The man had already been sentenced to four years in prison back in 2018. He was convicted of domestic violence but released sometime in 2020. The man would have been under probation until 2024. A court date has not yet been set.

How an attorney may help you with criminal charges

Regardless of the severity of your charges, a criminal defense attorney can help you protect your rights. The attorney might argue that unlawfully obtained evidence should be thrown out in court. In addition to representing you, the attorney may help analyze every detail of the case to make sure you receive a fair trial.

A criminal defense attorney can help with a wide range of criminal charges, from robbery and theft to traffic violations. A strong legal defense is crucial for working toward a favorable outcome.
