Criminal And Traffic Law In Greenville And Statewide

When You Need A Champion, We’re Here For You

Can I do anything to get points off of my license?

by Allison Blackwelder | Dec 18, 2016 | Firm News

It is sometimes possible to have points removed from your South Carolina license, but it is best to take steps to ensure that the points do not end up on your license in the first place. Just because you get points removed, it does not mean you avoid other negative consequences.

If you have a South Carolina license, the DMV will remove up to 4 points from your license if you complete certain driving courses and submit proof of proper completion. While this is good news if you are in danger of losing your license because you have a high number of points, there are few other positive effects that this retroactive approach will have on your license, insurance, and job-status.  (Disclaimer: Blackwelder Law, and this blog specifically, does not claim to answer this question for out-of-state drivers because every state will have its own rules governing administrative license procedures.)

Hiring an experienced attorney to explore ways to avoid having points go onto your license is the best way to ensure that you have taken advantage of all options available to you to avoid negative consequences.

Blackwelder Law looks forward to hearing from you today.
